The Nation’s Sexiest Occupations, Revealed!
Can a person's occupation make them more attractive, and does it define their ability to hold down the job of satisfaction in the bedroom?
We conducted a survey of 2,000 UK adults to find out which professions have us hot under the collar.
In a bid to answer if they can put their money where their mouth is, our survey also asked Brits to rate which professions are the most gifted lovers and those who are lacking the skills to satisfy.
Sexiest Occupations Revealed
Finding somebody in uniform attractive isn’t a new trend but the undeniable spark for one profession certainly hasn’t been lost over time.
According to Brits, firefighters top the list for the sexiest occupation, with almost one in five (19%) agreeing that seeing them slide down the fireman’s pole is enough to get them going. With 'uniform dating’ gaining over 1K UK searches a month, it seems we’re a nation that enjoys someone who knows how to use a hose.
Other professions could learn a thing or two from teachers (9%) who are the second sexiest workers in Britain. With the hashtag ‘hot teacher’ has gained 380.1 million views on TikTok, we can only imagine how many videos delve into this fantasy on certain X-rated websites.
Continuing the uniform trend, our survey found doctors (8%) and police officers (7%) were close behind, with builders also topping the list (6%).
In contrast, those that fail to stir any arousal are lorry drivers (1%), security guards (1%) and social workers (1%). Surprisingly, in trade professions, plumbers and electricians failed to keep up with the level of sexiness that builders bring, as they were shunned when it came to sex appeal (1%).
When it came down to what women want, more than a quarter (27%) agree with the nation in finding that smokin' hot firefighters really do it for them.
Men, however, desire someone with a little more authority as they admitted that teachers are their biggest turn on (18%).
The allure of firefighters is timeless according to our survey, as they topped every age group’s list for the sexiest occupation. Garnering 17.5 billion views of the TikTok hashtag ‘firefighter’, it’s clear our admiration is here to stay.
Interestingly, Gen Z – those born after 1996 – are less attracted to skilled office workers like marketing professionals (0%), engineers (0%) and accountants (0%).
Lorry drivers are unfortunately lacking sex appeal for most other age groups in the study. Those aged 35-64 didn’t find the occupation to be the sexiest. Whether this is because they’d always be on the road or because the FBI pointed out that the profession is convenient for serial killers, we’ll never know!
Regionally, firefighters excite Newcastle more than any other profession and more than any other city (30%), Belfast has the hots for teachers (18%) whereas builders leave Brummies the most flustered compared to other regions (9%).
Doctors have the most appeal in Leeds (13%) and Sheffield wouldn’t resist arrest by police officers (13%).
Surprisingly, those in the North West seem to find delivery drivers the sexiest, with a whopping 11% admitting to taking a fancy to workers delivering their takeout or parcels.
Northern Ireland apparently has a thing for customer service workers, with one in six (15%) residents rating the occupation as the sexiest.
Security guards are lacking in sex appeal for Belfast, Glasgow, Liverpool and Newcastle whereas electricians fail to ignite a spark for those in Bristol, Manchester, Sheffield, and Southampton (0%).
Best and worst performers in the bedroom
So far, we’ve learned firefighters are the nation’s sexiest occupation, but what’s the heat like in between the sheets? To find out, we asked our respondents which profession is best in bed.
It’s good news for those in the firefighting profession as they blazed through our survey as the raunchiest in the sack, with 14% of Brits agreeing they are best in bed.
Builders also managed to match up to their perceived sexiness and were voted the second-best lovers with 10% listing them as good in bed. Doctors performed well with 6% voting the medical professionals have what it takes.
There was an interesting split when it came to the best lovers for men and women. Firefighters seem to be doing something right as they came top for women, as one in six (17%) said that firefighters had the most skills in the bedroom.
For men however, it was teachers that received top marks, with almost one in five (18%) listing them as the profession best in the sack.
Women voted builders as the second-best lovers (10%) but doctors and their steady hands were a close second for men (9%).
Firefighters are also the most talented lovers for ages 35-65+. In a surprising twist, millennials enjoy the care of customer service workers, as they say they are the best lovers in the country (12%).
Our survey also revealed the less talented lovers in the bedroom.
It seems money can’t buy love (or mojo) as bankers (1%) gave us the ick and were rated as a letdown in bed, followed closely by estate agents (1%).
Despite their stamina for going the miles, lorry drivers can’t seem to satisfy Gen Z as they received the least votes for sexual performance with this age group (0%).
Those aged 55+ seem to have had the worst experiences in bed with estate agents, with them lacking votes (1%) for performance.
Conclusion
Our survey found that Brits still find somebody in uniform attractive. Firefighters, doctors and police officers all featured on the list for the UK’s sexiest occupations. Teachers in Britain also have the sexual allure that leaves us hot under the collar.
One thing is clear – firefighters are an expert in keeping things hot. They were voted the best lovers in bed, with teachers and builders in tow.
Of course, we are writing this with fun in mind. The best way to ensure your performance is up to scratch is to ask questions, communicate well and tune into your partner's body language.
